CYG – Day 10

CYG – Day 10:  Words

I’m going to share a song that has lyrics that are making me crazy because they resonate so much with me…

‘Loving can hurt
Loving can hurt sometimes
But it’s the only thing that I know
When it gets hard
You know it can get hard sometimes
It is the only thing that makes us feel alive

We keep this love in a photograph
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing
Hearts are never broken
Times forever frozen still

So you can keep me

Inside the pocket
Of your ripped jeans
Holdin’ me closer
‘Til our eyes meet
You won’t ever be alone
Wait for me to come home

Loving can heal
Loving can mend your soul
And it’s the only thing that I know
I swear it will get easier
Remember that with every piece of ya
And it’s the only thing we take with us when we die

We keep this love in this photograph
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing
Our hearts were never broken
Times forever frozen still

Oh you can fit me
Inside the necklace you got when you were 16
Next to your heartbeat
Where I should be
Keep it deep within your soul’

  1. Tears…. just streaming. I’ve heard this song so many times and never really listened to the lyrics. You do that when you’re in pain though. You have a heightened awareness of song lyrics, at least I do. Searching for words that could maybe possibly make you feel even a tiny bit at ease. This was like it was written for you guys. These pictures… his little hands on your face. Ugh. I can feel how much you want to feel those hands touching your face. Those last two got me. You were all so happy. :-‘(.

    1. Thanks Katie. I honestly listened to that song a ton of times and then one day while singing realized the lyrics were so poignant. Felt so close to home, especially because the last gift my mom gave me was a locket when I was 16. Such a great song. Music has been so powerful in all of this.
